What's Happening on Marymass Saturday, 22nd August
Marymass Saturday is a busy day and, if you've not been to Marymass before, it can be a lot to get your head around! Here we've broken down what's happening from our parade and crowning ceremony, to events taking place on Irvine Moor.

Creative Watercolour Class with Michelle Winslow

Park in Motion – Inclusive outdoor activities for all
10:30am-2:30pm, Free drop-in session, Eglinton Country Park. Enjoy outdoor fun, accessible outdoor activities and adventures. From mountain bike rides to Nordic walking, family orienteering and rickshaw rides, there is something for everyone. New Irvine Community Choir in Concert

Karaoke at the Carrick

Marymass Golf Trophy and Quaich
The prestigious Marymass golf tournament known as the Marymass Trophy and Quaich takes place at the wonderful Irvine Ravenspark Golf Club. This is an amateur event which costs £12 to enter. The annual Fourth Port Parade takes place around the streets of Fullarton & Harbourside. Horses, carts, bands and fancy dress all on show. For further info, see page 17.
Marymass Family Fun Day
Irvine Water Sports Club, Harbour Road, Irvine. Admission FREE: From 12pm
A fantastic family fun day starts with the kid’s fancy dress competition from the passing Fourth Port Parade. Bouncy castle, face painting, kid’s disco, food & more.
Marymass Gala Day & Duck Race
Low Green, Irvine. 11am – 4pm
Irvine Incorporated Trades host their annual Gala Day at Irvine Low Green with a fairground, attractions & races for kids 5-11 years. A variety of stalls & food vendors are also on site. Marymass Darts Competition

The Marymass darts trophy takes place every year for both the men’s title and the women’s title with cash prizes. The event in 2025 featured a heavyweight semi-final clash between PDC world no 29 Cameron Menzies and WDF Youth World Champion Mitchell Lawrie

Festival of Light Parade
Departs Irvine Cross at 9pm, Arrives Irvine Moor at 9:25pm
A spectacular procession of colour, light and music makes its way to Irvine Moor. We encourage all community groups and clubs to come along and take part on foot! This parade is non-motorised. See pg 19 for more information on our parade route & times.
Marymass Pram Race
Irvine Moor, Carrick Drive, Irvine. 9:35pm. Free to attend.
After over 40 years, the Marymass Pram Race makes a return to the annual festivities. Competitors will take part in the Festival of Light Parade before racing in front of crowds beneath the Greasy Pole! Entries are now full, this is set to be a lot of fun!
Marymass Fireworks Display
Irvine Moor, Carrick Drive, Irvine. 9:45pm approx. Free to attend.
An annual tradition, our fireworks display is an event not to be missed. Entertainment starts on Irvine Moor at 8:30pm with food, stalls & music. Our display starts at 9:45pm, with the Greasy Pole as our backdrop. Parking is available at Irvine Royal Academy.

Sunday 16th August
Tidelines presents a 'Dook and A Book'
Join up for a guided dip in the sea at Irvine Beach – meet 9am at the Coastwatch Beach Pavilion, Beach Drive, IRVINE, KA12 8FA. Goddess of Breath, Gemma Collins, will take us through our paces before we enter the water and then again when we come out. Then it’s back to the HAC for luxury hot chocolate. Hear how local swimmer Chantal McFeely used cold water and the art of journalling to combat grief. Culminate the experience by creating a personalised silk journal cover with talented artist, Lynn McNally. Start with the dook and end with the book!" Tour begins 9:15pm. All tours are torchlight, free and start at the front entrance of the Old Parish churchyard in Kirkgate KA12 0DG. For further info contact Billy Kerr 07727290683 or puddleford@gmail.com. Edgar Poe was born in Boston 1809 the son of two actors, by 1812 he was an orphan. He was soon fostered by Irvine born merchant John Allan who had him quickly baptised Edgar Allan Poe. In July 1815 John Allan returned to his hometown and brought the six years old Edgar with him. In the Old Parish churchyard are many gravestones that have connections to Poe's time in our ancient burgh. These, we will explore!

Judging of the Marymass Horses
Golffields Road, Irvine from 9am
Witness the judging of the horses taking part in the Marymass parade. Many of these horse owners have been up all night preparing for the big day, with a spectacular display of decorated horses & carts to view!
Marymass Parade 2026
Starts from Broomlands Drive at 10am. Passes Irvine Cross at 10:15am, 11:30am & 12:30pm.
Witness one of the largest horse-drawn processions in Scotland, with horses, music & colour bringing a carnival feel to the streets of Auld Irvine. Our biggest drawn is the main parade at 12:30pm from Irvine Town House to Irvine Moor.
Crowning of Marymass Queen 2026

BOOZE Brunch at Si! – Marymass Party Edition
Join Si! for the ultimate BOOZE Brunch! 11am – 3pm, where brunch meets full-blown party vibes, with unbeatable views of the Marymass parade from the balcony. Start with a glass of prosecco on arrival, then dive into a delicious brunch and one drink from our Marymass menu. Live DJ set from Colin McArdle, live sax player for those Ibiza-style vibes, step out onto the balcony for front row views of the Marymass parade and back inside for dancing and big party energy all afternoon, £42.50 pp.
Moor Events 2026
Irvine Moor, Carrick Drive, Irvine. Admission: FREE (£2 paddock entry) 12:30pm – 6pm.
Our Marymass parade arrives at Irvine Moor at 1pm for an afternoon of entertainment. The Greasy Pole returns once more, which is expected to draw a crowd. There are events for the whole family including horse racing, free kids zone, live action jousting, funfair, market, food vendors, live music, beer tent, paddock area and more. Car parking is at Irvine Royal Academy.

Irvine Moor, Carrick Drive, Irvine. Open from 12pm
An icon of Marymass, the ‘shows’ return to Irvine Moor. This is your last chance to visit.
Marymass Return Parade
Irvine Moor to Irvine Cross. Departs 5pm
The final horse-drawn parade of 2026, our Marymass parade returns from Irvine Moor to Irvine Town. The Captain, Queen and Marys make a detour via Seagate to lay a wreath and pay respects. The parade terminates in Irvine Town around 5:30pm.
Marymass Karaoke
Royal British Legion, 2 West Road, Irvine. Admission £2: 2pm – 11pm (£2.50 from 6pm)
A fantastic afternoon of karaoke. An evening of entertainment follows with live music from 7:30pm.
JJ Gilmour LIVE at the HAC
Harbour Arts Centre, 116 Harbour Street, Irvine, KA12 8PZ, Tickets £25 plus booking fee, available from thehac.co.uk. Former frontman of Scottish band The Silencers returns to the HAC with music taken from his international gold selling discs and his well crafted stories. JJ will also feature songs from his new album he’ll be recording in Nashville.

Divine Service
Old Parish Church, Irvine. Parade departs Townhouse 10:30am, service in church from 11am
Open to all. After the service, the Marymass Queen will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in an act of remembrance.
Thanksgiving Service
St Mary’s Church, West Road, Irvine. Parade departs Castle Street 5:40pm, service in church from 6pm
Once again open to all to take part, local dignitaries parade to the church for a start time of 6pm.
Marymass Karaoke
Royal British Legion, 2 West Road, Irvine. Admission £2: 7pm – 11pm
A fantastic evening of karaoke to be had in the Royal British Legion. Bar open from 6pm throughout the evening to help see out Marymass 2025.

Volunteering at Eglinton Park
9:30am – 12:30pm, Eglinton Country Park. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and keep active. There are various groups running throughout the week and opportunities for independent activities within both the park and community gardens. Marymass Flower Show

Following a successful few years, Irvine Horticultural Society bring the Marymass Flower Show back for 2026. All exhibits welcome and includes flowers/plants, fruit/veg and crafts. Tea room open. For more info, call Bill on 01294 277461.

We offer FREE EVENT PARKING at all Marymass events. Below we have a detailed guide to visiting our core events, including nearby bus routes and official event parking.
MARYMASS SATURDAY 22nd Aug 9am - 6pm
Our events take place across Irvine Town and Irvine Moor throughout the day. The day is split with 4 key events:
9am - Judging of the horses at Golffields Road
10am - Parade begins around Auld Irvine, passing Irvine Cross at 10:15am, 11:30am & 12:30pm
12pm - Crowning of Marymass Queen at Irvine Townhouse
1-6pm - Moor events including horse racing, greasy pole, funfair, jousting, market and more.
By foot, head for Irvine Town Centre in the morning or Irvine Moor at Carrick Drive from 12:30pm.
By car, free parking is available in Irvine Town Centre or we have official event parking at Irvine Royal Academy. This is available from 8am - 8pm on the day. Please use the school car park or the field to the rear of the school. The gate in the school field is open and gives access straight to Irvine Moor. This is FREE PARKING, please ensure you leave before 8pm as gates will be locked. Disabled parking is also available here. All spaces are on a first come, first serve basis.
By bus, multiple services run to Irvine Cross run by both Stagecoach and Shuttle Buses. These operate from local areas of Irvine and from surrounding towns and villages including Kilmarnock, Ayr, Troon, Kilwinning, Largs, Saltcoats and Ardrossan.
Irvine Moor is also accessable by bus, please use the bus stop at Kilwinning Road at Carrick Drive. Services here include Stagecoach routes 11, 22, 25, 25A, 28A, & 585. Shuttle Buses service 38 also serves Irvine Moor. Timetables and journey planners are available at shuttlebuses.co.uk or stagecoachbus.com.

FOURTH PORT PARADE - Sat 15th Aug 11am - 1pm
This event takes place around Fullarton and Irvine Harbourside. The best place to catch the parade is at Harbour Street, Irvine around 12pm. Parking is available around Harbourside with only some restrictions around Irvine Water Sports Club. The best spot for parking is the Beach Car Park and walking back past GRO to catch a limpse.
By foot, head to Irvine Train Station then follow the path to the Harbourside.
By bus, Shuttle Buses service 21 operates from Crosshouse, Dundonald and Irvine to the Harbourside. Catch the bus at Irvine High Street at 11:18am to head for Harbour Street, then head back on the next service leaving Harbour St at 12:42pm. Timetable at shuttlebuses.co.uk
Festival of Light Parade & Fireworks Display - Sat 15th Aug 9pm - 10:15pm
Our Festival of Light Parade departs Irvine Cross at 9pm and heads for our fireworks event area at Irvine Moor, arriving around 9:25pm. The annual fireworks display takes place from 9:45pm.
By foot, make your way to Irvine Cross for 9pm the follow the parade out to Irvine Moor, otherwise, head to Carrick Drive to access our free event site.
Our official FREE car park is available to the rear of Irvine Royal Academy. Please use the main car park and the grass field to the rear of the school. There is a gate with access straight to Carrick Drive. This car park is open 7pm - 11pm on the night.
By bus, Stagecoach operate a number of services to Kilwinning Road in Irvine both before and after the event. This is a 1 minute walk from our event site. Bus services operating to the site on the evening include the 11, 22, 25A & 28A. Upon the event finishing, buses depart from Kilwinning Road at the following times:
